AIA HK Animation Showcase
Friday 24 January 2025 – SOOOP to host an evening of animation, music, and carnival fun at HK’s AIA Carnival! The event kicks off with a showcase of HK animation talent, before the directors and producers join the audience for a panel discussion and Q&A. Following this, local bands PiNCH and Mr Koo take to the stage.

An experimental animation that approaches Hong Kong’s built environment from the conceptual perspective of celluloid film, by applying the technique of film animation to the photographic image.
Telsche — Sophie Colfer and Ala Nunu | 2023
Set on a surreal plain of salt flats, Telsche is an abstract short film that explores memory and loss, as one girl attempts to remember someone who she has forgotten.
Survival HK — Louise Pau | 2019
A short that screens online when T8 or above is hoisted in HK, featuring an English listening test that takes place inside a small classroom against the backdrop of a typhoon.
You Build a Home in My Mind — Florence Yuk-Ki Lee | 2023
Translating and encapsulating the director’s personal childhood experiences, as well as past lived experiences, this short weaves together images of the HK cityscape that spin, scatter, and disappear, that circle and pass us by.
Monsoon Blue — Ellis Kayin Chan and Jay Wong| 2024
The dream of a goldfish to return to its wild form brings up long-forgotten memories, all while a typhoon brews.
